ERDT enVision Volunteer Ventures Homestay Program
The Volunteer Ventures Homestay Program provides university students and adults (minimum age 18) with an in-depth, hands-on volunteer experience with a local organization dedicated to addressing social issues in the community.
Volunteer Ventures provides participants with direct experience of the culture of volunteerism – a cornerstone of civil society – in the U.S.
The program participants have the opportunity to develop and strengthen professional, administrative, and language skills in a structured environment of volunteer work.
Participants also live with an American host family and experience a deeply human, unique, and intimate immersion in society and culture in the U.S.
Participants are profoundly moved by their individual experiences. These experiences help them understand and appreciate the culture and practice of volunteerism in the U.S. not only from the administrative point of view but on the crucial person-to-person human level.

Coordinators, host families, and host organizations in southern California—from San Diego to the High Desert about 2 hours east of Los Angeles, as well as in American Fork, Utah, could not say enough good things about their experiences. We received about 25 participants this winter. Each student was moved by their individual experiences, which helped them understand and embrace the spirit of giving so abundant in America. Along with their full days of working hard for their local non-profit organizations, the opportunity to live with an American host family was notably meaningful.
