Our Story
Educational Resource Development Trust (ERDT) was established as a non-profit educational foundation in the U.S. in 1978.
ERDT administers homestay programs in the U.S. under two company departments: ERDT enVision administers our short-term homestay programs, and ERDT Share! administers the company’s academic year and semester J-1 High School Exchange Program.
ERDT enVision
ERDT enVision offers a variety of short-term homestay programs: Individual Immersion Homestay, Volunteer Ventures, Farmstay & Ranchstay Program, and many programs for groups of students in junior high, high school and university.
All of our programs can be customized according to the specific needs of our overseas partners. The homestay is clearly a crucial component of the ERDT enVision programs. Our highly customized approach also allows us to match participants with host families that best match their personality and program objectives. In every ERDT enVision program, the participant has the support of a local Exchange Program Coordinator (EPC) who welcomes and orients the participant upon arrival and is available throughout the duration of the participant’s stay.
ERDT Share!
ERDT’s flagship program is the SHARE! High School Exchange Program. ERDT was designated a sponsor of our high school exchange program by the U.S. Department of State in 1980. The SHARE! Division of ERDT offers international secondary school students the opportunity to learn first hand about the American way of life, culture, and traditions. ERDT/SHARE! matches between 500-600 teens annually from 30 different countries with volunteer American host families throughout the United States and enrolls the students in the local public high schools for a semester or academic year. Participants are carefully screened and oriented to ensure that they are academically prepared, proficient in English, and demonstrate maturity, adaptability and a sincere desire to experience American culture.
In several recent surveys, ERDT/SHARE! ranked among the very best high school exchange programs surveyed by the U.S. Department of State. Since its inception, ERDT has brought more than 10,000 high school exchange students to the USA for a semester or academic year.
We have maintained a full listing with CSIET since 1987 ERDT/SHARE! is included in the Advisory List published by the Council on Standards for International Educational Travel (CSIET), an independent not-for-profit organization committed to qualify international educational travel. CSIET establishes standards for organizations and monitors compliance with those standards.

Our Mission
ERDT believes that cross-cultural understanding is fundamental in developing mutual respect and tolerance between Americans and peoples from other countries. By doing so, we feel that we enhance the individual potential and value of all people, foster a strong belief in our common human heritage, and create collaboration and solidarity in a closer global community.
