Our Story

ERDT Share!

ERDT’s flagship program is the SHARE! High School Exchange Program.  ERDT was designated a sponsor of our high school exchange program by the U.S. Department of State in 1980.  The SHARE! Division of ERDT offers international secondary school students the opportunity to learn first hand about the American way of life, culture, and traditions.  ERDT/SHARE! matches between 500-600 teens annually from 30 different countries with volunteer American host families throughout the United States and enrolls the students in the local public high schools for a semester or academic year. Participants are carefully screened and oriented to ensure that they are academically prepared, proficient in English, and demonstrate maturity, adaptability and a sincere desire to experience American culture.

In several recent surveys, ERDT/SHARE! ranked among the very best high school exchange programs surveyed by the U.S. Department of State.  Since its inception, ERDT has brought more than 10,000 high school exchange students to the USA for a semester or academic year.

We have maintained a full listing with CSIET since 1984 ERDT/SHARE! is included in the Advisory List published by the Council on Standards for International Educational Travel (CSIET), an independent not-for-profit organization committed to qualify international educational travel. CSIET establishes standards for organizations and monitors compliance with those standards.

ERDT enVision 

ERDT enVision organizes short-term Group (ESL/Cultural and Social Research in America), Individual (Home Stay, Ranch/Equestrian Center Stay, and Farm Stay), and Volunteer Ventures Programs. This highly customized approach to foreign exchange programs allows us to match students with host families that will best suit the personality and goals of the student participating in the selected program.

As with the SHARE! Program, a crucial component of all ERDT enVision programs is a home stay for the international visitor with an American host family.  In all programs, the international student or visitor also has an Exchange Program Coordinator who is available at any time during the visitor’s stay.

ERDT believes that cross-cultural understanding is fundamental in developing mutual respect and tolerance between Americans and peoples from other countries.  By doing so, we feel that we enhance the individual potential and value of all people, foster a strong belief in our common human heritage, and create collaboration and solidarity in a closer global community.

Our Leadership

Managing Director, ERDT

Roger Riske was president of ERDT for 30 years, retiring from that position in 2007.  He remains active with ERDT on a part-time basis, with particular involvement in the enVision program.  Roger was an English teacher with the U.S. Peace Corps in Tunisia from 1964-1967.  He obtained his Ph.D. In International Relations from UCLA in 1979 and taught courses in the Department of Political Science and Graduate School of Education from 1979-1989.  He is the father of a son.

President, ERDT

Kelli Jones began working for ERDT in 1990 and has been president of ERDT since 2007.  She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Special Education, with a minor in Japanese, from Illinois State University.  Kelli lived in Japan for 6 years and studied for 2 of those years at Nanzan University, Nagoya.  Kelli loves to travel and has visited nearly 40 countries on 6 continents.  She is the mother of 2 daughters, a soccer mom, dog lover, and foodie.

Executive Director, ERDT

Colin Churchill began working for ERDT in 1986 and has been Executive Director since 2003.  Colin is a native of New Zealand and has Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from University of Auckland as well as a Master’s degree from UCLA.  He taught English in Hong Kong for four years as well as at Qingdao Merchant Seaman’s College in Shandong Province, China.  Colin is an avid cricket player and promoter.

Director, ERDT EnVision

Tracy Gautier began working for ERDT in 2003 and has been Director of ERDT enVision since early 2015.  She was previously a Host Family, Coordinator, Area Manager, and Assistant Director.  Prior to her association with ERDT, Tracy worked for many years as a Teacher’s Assistant in ESL (English as a Second Language) and with students with Special Needs.  Tracy is fluent in Spanish and enjoys learning about other languages and cultures.  She is the mother of 3 children.

Associate Director, ERDT enVision

Nicole Bautista has been with ERDT, enVision since early 2015. Previously, she held management roles at Nordstrom, The Art Institute of California-Orange County and The Art Institute of California-San Bernardino. During her career at The Art Institute she spent four years as an office manager and six years as an accounting specialist. On her time off she enjoys spending time with her husband and three daughters, camping and mountain bike riding.
