Below is a summary of a typical program:

Welcome Party on arrival to introduce students to Host Families.  This is the first opportunity for students to interact with their Host Families as a group in a relaxed social event.

Classes normally held 9 am – 12 pm, 3-4 days a week. Emphasis is on building students’ fluency in English and aspects of American culture they will encounter. We teach English in fun and exciting ways.

A variety of afternoon activities are provided after Language & Culture Classes: e.g., cooking, craft, and dance classes; local museum visit; bowling, pool party, shopping.

One or two full-day excursions per week. Typical excursions for Southern California include: Los Angeles tour (Hollywood, UCLA campus tour, Santa Monica beach); Universal Studios or Disneyland.

Typical excursions for Northern California include: San Francisco tour (Fisherman’s Wharf, Golden Gate Bridge, Stanford University campus tour, Intel Museum).

All students enjoy free time with Host Families in the evenings and on weekends. Students are immersed in English language and cultural situations in interaction with Host Families. American families are very eager to learn from their students and to help them in their language and cultural learning.

Students help to organize a “thank you” party for their Host Families before departure. Students are encouraged to present aspects of their own culture for the enjoyment and education of the Host Families.
